>> Remember that meeting way back when in NYC? <<
Yes I still have the NASD/AMEX day pass to the Trading Floor dated December 7th, 1999 that I keep as a souvenir of that day. I've always had fond memories of you.
>> Do you have any interest in the stock anymore? <<
No, I think I sold the last of my ULBI in year 2000 and took down my Lithium Battery article archive the same year after moving away from my ISP and losing interest. I removed my subjectmark on this subject and deliberately stayed away from ULBI boards for more than a year because I had become too wrapped in following ULBI. I'm burned out and exhausted on the subject. I keep a more balanced portfolio now and follow other interests. I have dropped in and lurked on the Yahoo board from time to time and was glad for you when I saw that the stock was in the twenties on the strenght of its military sales. I had originally got into ULBI based on the lithium polymer story and when that didn't pan out the way I had hoped, I moved on.
>> I remember that you did well with many of your holdings. I hope that you are still doing well. <<
I should have taken your friend's advice, the AMEX trader, and sold all my Qualcomm in December of 1999. I rode it up, but I rode it most of the way back down. I was heavy into telecom stocks and when that bubble burst I began to lose so much money and make so many bad trades that a sold everything and got out of the market before I lost everything. I stayed out of the market and away from message boards for about nine months. I then reentered cautiously and stayed away from story stocks. I'm much more hard nosed about the companies I invest in now and want to see a company do more than just issue optimistic press releases.
>> I don't follow Valence at all <<
Neither do I, but it was to aid in the Valence vs. Ultralife message board war that you first dragged me reluctantly over to SI from Yahoo. Some of old Valence regulars are still at it, still following The Dream. Don Wolanchuk has set up his own moderated SI VLNC board where he can chat with his devotees without interference from critical non-believers.
>> Do you have any suggestions as to the best message board? Investorvillage is also dead. Having a holding in a small company like ULBI is difficult anyway, <<
I don't know which is best. I don't visit Raging Bull or Investor's Hub anymore and I only became aware of Investorvillage in the last week or so. I don't have time to visit multiple message boards. When pressed for time I only visit a few here on SI. On SI, message boards devoted to just one stock tend to be inactive. The most successful boards are those moderated boards of a more general nature that discuss a number of different stocks or non-investment subjects. Yahoo boards tended to be too slow and to jammed with arguementative trolls. I like the fact that I can read messages 10 at a time at SI instead on one at a time on Yahoo which allows me to get caught up quickly on a board and skim over the uninteresting.
Since you left most boards on SI have become moderated which allows spammers and trolls to be quickly expelled.
Why don't you click on BOARDS above and when you see New Subjects | Active Subjects (Investment) | Active Subjects (Other) | Hot Subjects (Investment) | Hot Subjects (Other) | Top SubjectMarks | Top PeopleMarks
click on Active Subjects and Hot Subjects both Investment and Other and see if there is anything you like.
Of course given your membership level, if you don't see anything you like, you can always start your own board. The only trick is getting people to come to your board.
Nice to hear from you and I hope you find a board you like.
