There is no excuse for bigotry, of ANY kind- but it's especially horrible when the state or federal powers of a country are used to enforce it.

I find that an odd interpretation of the gay marriage debate. So far as I know, in all the pending and recent court decisions, gays are the plaintiffs , not the defendants. Doesn't that mean that gays are the ones trying to use "state or federal powers" to enforce their point of view?

Many of these lawsuits seek to prevent a vote or referendum on gay marriage, which is consistent with a group preferring to use "state or federal powers," rather than commending the issue to the will of the people.
