Did anyone know what Israel's reaction would be? It seems obvious Israel that had, no doubt within the context of much larger plans, intented on destroying Lebanon and carving out a space for itself, and was just looking for the excuse. The fact that this is a mid-term election year in the US and also the start of summer when probably people are on vacation and not watching the news carefully, was probably another reason for the timing.

>As soon as they stepped into Israeli space it was an act of war.

Hasn't Israel done actions that are effectively war for a long time? Like illegally occupying the land of other countries? And weren't the attacks against soldiers, unlike the Israeli response which killed so far more than 300 civilians and shattered a country's infrastruture and fragile economy?
