Mmmm... Yes... this belongs on the Foodie Thread!!!
Richard,
I will post something on the Foodie thread today and get it back up in view again... I guess Tomato and I have been slacking off a little in the "food department"(and the gardener's thread) and they are all going inactive. Oh well, autumn is rapidly making its presence known up here in Ontario, so undoubtedly I will be spending a little more time posting on the threads... (-:
The Meal at the Basque inn sounds just wonderful... A great way to really blow a diet I think!!! As I think I've mentioned before on this thread, we always stay and B&B's when we travel... we enjoy the ambiance, meeting people from all over the world... (often many from Europe and Asia), and also the food. Some breakfasts are unbelievable... you don't have to eat for the rest of the day after being treated to all kinds of great home-cooked foods and baked goods... Almost enough to make me hop in my truck and start one of my gypsy "wanderings" from one B&B to the next... I'm always a little surprised that more people don't stay in country inns and B&B's... Our own experiences have be great... However, a few people have told me that they feel a little shy about the whole idea of dining with and chatting with strangers... Gee.. I think that's the BEST part of all!!! Yes, things can be a little awkward for about 2 or 3 minutes, but once everyone starts to dig into a good meal... well, the words start to flow pretty quickly... and next thing you know, breakfast is over and you're sorry you don't have more time to discuss interesting stuff like travel, gardens, food, collecting, house restoration, or whatever... seems there are always others there who share your interests... Yep... it's a great way to travel and dine.
