A fully synthesized macro view based on profound knowledge and careful analysis has great utility. A simplistic one, OTOH, while having superficial charm, is folly.

Trying to reinvent the wheel can be ego satisfying but may not be necessary. Not only that, but without the necessary tools the ego can often lead one to certain folly.

Few of us have the wherewithal of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Jesus Christ, Aquinas, Newton, Einstein, etc. The macro view that these people represent are tested over time. You can easily spend more than a lifetime going over the same grounds.

Not having the necessary tools does not mean that you can not benefit from their macro views.

As an example, you can do your own due diligence.

You can ask yourself some simple questions - performing a sanity check.

You can ask yourself if you think any of these people could or would ever advocate the use of force to solve problems. Would any of these people go around making excuses for people using force (killing other human beings) to advance points of view.

And then you may ask yourself "why are my views so much different than theirs"?. What do I know that they do not?

Some things are just intuitively obvious.
