No good will come of this to Israel. They are just creating a larger pool of committed enemies. They had other, better options, ones that required political courage.

Jimmy Carter's response in 1979 comes to mind. That was US territory. At the time, I thought we should nuke Tehran, and saw Carter as a "bend-over" Christian wimp. Carter saved the lives of all those hostages, but it cost him his Presidency.
