Traveled to India this past December/January, and it was a fascinating trip, would highly recommend it. The economy is on fire (despite the recent Sensex crash)and the mood there is like the mood we had in the late 90's: lots of optimism and fresh energy, and not just in the tech field, but in the domestic economy too. (Govt there is pumping in huge amounts of dough on infrastructure, where India is behind China).
Tigers, I don't know :) But I visited Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune, which is becoming the new high tech center after Bangalore and Hydrabad, with a massive IBM campus among others. The best part was its one of the few countries in the world which is very pro-American, and relations between the USA and India have never been better!
The best way to get there is to deal with travel agents that specialise on India travel, and not with Travelocity or any other mainstream agency. The specialists can get tickets on Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Malaysian etc. for around $1K since they are consolidators. |
