He was a friend of the US, and supported and cheered on when he attacked Iran in a pointless, hugely destructive war. He gassed the Kurds, but the US said hardly a word at the time. His brutality was not an issue until oil control became an issue with Kuwait, and later neo-cons decided on some grand plans for the Middle East that seem suspiciously to have been all about Israel's interests rather than the US or anyone else's, which might be partly explained by their backgrounds

I don't quite see the benefit to Israel other than Saddm's papyments to the families of suicide killers stopped.... As for oil control becoming an issue in Kuwait, wasn't that an invasion of a sovereign country? I'm sure he invaded Kuwait.

As for the second invasion, I don't know that I was in favour of it, I think I just don't kno0w how George can get out of it.

I was in favour, and actually still am in favour of sending in Executioners, and simply killing off the leadership of Al Qaeda. The Israelis were right, killing every single person involved works.

There are tyrants all over the world. Why go after Saddam? The US has often been friends of tyrants. Saddam ran a secular government and had the brutality against radical Muslims that you seem to support? If you are asking me to devise a grand plan for reshaping the Middle East, it is a bit much for me or anyone to get into offhand, but in the case of Iraq, a Pandora's box probably should not have been openned, and certainly not in the way that it was. It is sort of like if a clock is a bit slow, you sure don't take it apart to try to fix it if you don't know how. You end up with a whole bunch of pieces that you can't fit back together again.

Saddam was simply there. Americans needed a target, and Saddam was available. I don't know that George had good information, he just needed to look like he was doing something to make the US safe. Everybody makes mistakes, OTOH maybe this one will work out. or maybe not.

As for clocks, I collect them, and yes I have taken some of them apart, and put them back together. It isn't hard if you know the trick......
