OK, I see... so Schwab is basically starting to sound like a commercial bank instead of a brokerage... raising funds (stock) at a low interest rate to lend them out at a higher rate. [Or I guess in this case, raising the stock at a HIGH rate and lending them out at an even HIGHER rate...] I hope FHM is right (actually I suspect he is) that this is just to facilitate the naked shorts need to cover. I dont like this, though, whatever the denouement... Still havent heard anything like this from Ameritrade. Anyone with AMTD get any offers like this yet?
