Of course the non-economic benefits of a good spouse can be priceless, but you would hope that would work both ways... I do think that's at the heart of all this. It seemed to me that Jim S was saying that women somehow take men to the cleaners in divorce settlements and he was very sympathetic to the husband who blew up the house. I was just bringing up another view, that women provide a great deal that could translate into a high assessed value, much higher than that for which they usually receive credit. You saw the flaws in the study, and were interested in accuracy; I was only interested in bringing up the other side of the scenario, that it existed. I wasn't looking for any real number. Having been a stay at home mom for many years, it's an sensitive point for me.
