Kerry has since changed his view on that. He didn't even mean it when he first said it, but it was in the middle of the campaign when the rightwing was making the most of "flipflopper" and he felt they were trying to trick him into giving them more fuel for that fire. If was a damned if he did or didn't kind of question.

Kerry was 100% right about how to handle Saddam Hussein from the beginning. His stance was clear, no invasion except as a last resort "because we HAVE to", fully prepared with a post-invasion plan and plenty of allies.

His only error was believing the hyped up intel Cheney's people were manipulating to send to congress. We now know that happened. Kerry never found out about the CIA report six months before the election that told the WH that Saddam had little or no WMD, just a few old mustard gas shells at the most. That report turned out to be true, but it was hidden from the senate by Cheney's people.

Concentrate your ire on the Bushies, not certain democrats who might have been tricked or compelled by public opinion into partly cooperating with the White House.
