I don't even know what my options are at this point.

Do I own the work that's done so far?

Can I ask that the coding be provided to me so I can hire someone else to finish it?

Should I? I just don't know what to do.

You see, I thought this person was part of the SI community, and I was part of the SI community, and thus, I could trust him.

In retrospect, I should have given only part of the money up front and the rest in tranches as the work progressed, but he was in a jam financially, so I helped him out.

That's actually the worst part of it, for me, that I thought I was being a good person and a friend by advancing the money.
