Allen re: market share
It's old data, but still does demonstrate that Apple gained worldwide market share, at least slightly, in 2005.
Shipment growth of nearly 20% is nothing to sneeze at, either.
Figures for 2006 should look better.
Apple had a 1.96% worldwide market share in 2004 and a 2.27% worldwide market share in 2005, so at least 2005 was an upswing from a year earlier. Go back farther and the picture isn't as rosy, of course.
As for 2006, so far Apple has a 2.32% worldwide share YTD, vs. 2.38% for the first half of last year.
Frankly, I think these numbers amount to rounding errors, not worth over-analysis, when the main issue is Apple's transition to Intel, which has caused, and will continue to cause, a fair amount of disruption and delayed buying, as well as lost customers and new cusomers. |
