The only reason that the minimum wage doesn't really do any harm is that its low. Raise it to enough to support a family of 4 at the national average living cost, and you put a lot of people out of work.

You do? Whose going to do the work? Your theory is badly flawed. People in Seattle do the same work that illegals do in LA but they earn a living wage unlike in LA. Seattle continues to be an economic powerhouse experiencing only one recession in 26 years. Paying people what they deserve has not hurt this region.......on the contrary, the quality of life is very good.

Then scale it in to reflect the economic level of the region. I can tell you now that the poorer areas will object but its worth a try.
