There are two sides in this war. Hezbollah and Israel. If you denounce Israel because of excessive violence, it will be seen and used as support for Hezbollah. If you support Israel you will be seen as against Hezbollah. It really is very simple. Not simple I think for the Prime Minister, or for the Lebanese who are innocent bystanders with both Combatants ignoring them, but the combatants are Israel and Hezbollah.

Could you frame a statement that got your point across stop killing people, and didn't support either side, remembering of course that Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese Government, and the Lebanese Government has been trying for two years, in theory, to disarm them. Whose lives do you discount the Israelis or the Lebanese?

Ideally the Canadian Prime Minister would have said, Canada is gathering Information and we will not have an official position until the facts are more clear. That is what should have been said. But of course you knew that you just didn't want to say it. Nothing is what should have been said, because Canada cannot be seen as supporting either side, but it particularly cannot be seen as supporting a Terrorist Group.

To bad you hadn't offered that solution. But that isn't very comforting to a bleeding heart is it? BTW did you send you donation to rebuild Lebanon yet? That is going to do far more good than all this whimpering.
