I recall that when they made a movie or TV show about Mike Hammer, Mickey Spillane had it written into the contract that he MUST carry a .45 semi-Auto, not some pipsqueek .38 or 9 mm. No .45, no deal, was the way it went.

I see where the military is coming to the same view after a couple of decades or so toying with the 9 mm.
