Since you have to plug-in the iPod-like device to charge it anyway, a wireless capability doesn't have as much utility...

Since I watched the Avengers today (the one with Mrs. Peel) I was about to quip "Broadcast Power!" and then digress about solar power and get nostalgic about power hungry calculators and the revolution that brought about solar powered calculators, but now I'm digressing.

But then I realized that they could have some sort of inductive charger - not quite charging at a distance, but you would just have to put the device down on a platform, any which way.

Actually, knowing MSFT, they'd probably come up with some scheme to power it with vinegar and baking soda.
