WB11/WPIX Broadcast of THE TUBE Music Network Launches in Tri-State Area on Comcast Digital Cable Adding Nearly One Million Viewers to National Reach "I Spend Most of My Time at Home and Ever Since I Got THE TUBE, It's on 24/7. I Know We've Just Met,
NEW YORK, Jul 24, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- THE TUBE, the first 24-hour digital network devoted solely to music programming, is now available on Comcast Digital Cable Channel 250 in New York and Jersey and on Channel 242 in the Danbury, Connecticut area.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of THE TUBE MEDIA CORPORATION (OTCBB: TUBM), THE TUBE Music Network is also available on WPIX-TV's digital multicast signal on Channel 11.2, and has been launching aggressively this summer on digital stations cross the country, as well as on cable systems in Chicago, Miami and Philadelphia.
THE TUBE features a bold playlist comprised of major and independent label videos, as well as exclusive performance clips. In a vast departure from the way music has traditionally been presented on television, classic performances from legendary artists are featured alongside just-released videos by current artists. There are no reality shows, award shows or game shows on THE TUBE, providing viewers in the Tri-state area one of the most innovative new music programming options in decades.
"Comcast is thrilled to bring THE TUBE to our digital customers," said Keith Taub, Comcast Area Vice President for Northern New Jersey. "We have invested tremendous resources in building a fiber-rich network that delivers the best value in home entertainment and information services with unique programming options like THE TUBE across our entire service territory."
"Comcast is pleased to deliver THE TUBE to our New York and Danbury area customers," said Tony Speller, Vice President for Comcast's Connecticut-Western Massachusetts Region. "THE TUBE is a network that represents the evolution of music video entertainment and showcases the value of digital cable by delivering more of the quality programming our customers are demanding."
THE TUBE Music Network is spearheaded by CEO Les Garland, one of the creative forces who helped develop the music television genre in the 1980's, serving as co-founder/originator of both MTV: Music Television and VH-1. In the 90's, Garland played an essential role in the domestic and international launch of the first interactive music channel, The Box, acting as senior executive vice president.
"With commitments in 71 of the top 100 markets, including the coveted New York, THE TUBE Music Network is a major force in this exciting new digital multicast environment," said Garland.
