One of the funniest things I've ever seen is JohnM earnestly explaining how the New Yorke Times has no biases.

JohnM doesn't believe that and has never defended that proposition.

What JohnM believes is that good journalism, which the Times and other newspapers, such as the Washington Post, practice includes a commitment to getting the story right that transcends ideological commitment. Some newspapers and cable channels do not have such a commitment.

As for the Times having biases that are in all sorts of odd relationships to the journalistic ethic of getting the story right, of course they do. The owners have ones that are different from the editors who, in turn, have different ones than some of the working journalists. It's a melange.

And one should be clear that biases are not the same as ideological commitments nor, not necessarily, are neither the same as points of view.

But if you are going to characterize JohnM's position, best check with JohnM before you do so.
