Looking at the very first synopsis page showing how 'good' ethanol production is wrt fossil fuel use:

To net 1mil.BTU of end product:

"Petroleum to Gasoline: 1.23mil.Btu Fossil Energy Input"

"Corn to EtOH: 0.74mil.Btu Fossil Energy Input"

Now, to net the .74mil.BTU of Fossil Energy Input to produce 1mil.BTU EtOH requires .74 x 1.23mil BTU Fossil Energy Input, or about 1mil BTU Fossil Energy Input for each 1mil.BTU EtOH.

(I know, not enough info for accurate conclusion, etc.)

I'm still trying to calculate how much methane induced global warming is produced by Al Gore's steak eating --- ruminants, final flatulence, etc. Must produce potent warming --- at least as much as my little car.
