Many of you may be aware of the controversy over Yale's rejection of the Middle East scholar, Juan Cole.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has, in its latest edition, an interesting debate on the issue of whether blogging is dangerous to an academic career and whether that matters. They invited a distinguished group of academic bloggers, whom many of you will recognize to comment: Daniel Drezner, Brad deLong, Glenn Reynolds, Ann Althouse, and others. Their comments are well worth the read.

Then Cole has an afterword.

Because the topic is an important one at the moment, the Chronicle has dropped its subscription only requirement for reading it online. At least for this bit.
