Actually my question was broader than this. The US and Israel whine constantly about assymetric warfare and how it's an unfair fight...for them.

If that's the case then why bother with a regular military invasion in the first place? Why bother with multimillion dollar airplanes and artillery and tanks if they're only going to whine that it isn't effective?

Is the military this inept?

I find the argument utterly stupid.

If you're going to invade a country and have everyone mad at you then you need to bring in enough people to police it as well. Thus the need for 500,000 troops in Iraq.

If you're going to topple a government and do not wish to commit that many troops for the duration, don't send in an entire army...be like the pipsqueak and stop whining about assymetry.

The US and Israeli governments also whine constantly about how the enemy (whoever that may be -- it's pretty unclear nowadays) hides behind civilians and how they, being the big military powers, have to walk around gingerly.

However, during these past two weeks Israel has killed maybe 300 civilians and about double that number have died in Iraq. So what's the whining about?

I think it's unseemly but, much more importantly, it doesn't make any sense. It certainly seems that the country which regularly puts people up in space can certainly find a way to deal with assymetry.
