So it's a business, but he's not letting just anyone in? Legally, if it is a private club he can do what he wants. If it is a regular business he cannot. I think the smoking laws make sense. I'm ok with them. I see you mention perfume- I think that can be assaultive too. I don't care if it is regulated- along with other chemicals that might invade the body. I think there is a legitimate public health danger to people. Either you believe in public health, and that we regulate for it, or you do not- or you believe in public health, but you carve out exceptions for the regulations you think are too intrusive. I think public health sometimes trumps individual freedoms- not much else does for me, but public health does. I'm ok with seat belt laws; I'm ok with quarantines for infectious diseases; I'm ok with helmet laws, etc. I don't think public health should compromise the sanctity of the home, but I'm ok with the regulation of public places, since we all share those.

No doubt we disagree.
