you need to go ahead and pull your head out of your butt so you can open your other eye.

What is YOUR plan....other than kill the ones YOU choose to MAYBE at some future date get to play God?

Come on bigshot let's hear your plan.

O.K...Pro. Here is MY plan. The Adoption group that I am on the board of (a national group) is now more aware of the fertility clinic tossed embryos. Our next board meeting is in September but there will be an agenda item to consider contacting organizations involved in promoting better education about snowflake babies. Perhaps an outreach to the clinics can be developed to better educate clinic patrons BEFORE they undertake the in vitro procedure. I'll let you know.

As for the tens of thousands of embryos already in "cold storage", efforts should be made to foster adoption programs for them. I despair that anything can be done with these existing embryos because much time has passed and getting the consent of the donors will be difficult if not impossible. I suspect 99% of those embryos will be destroyed.

But here is where you and I differ. I can draw a line in the sand right here and hope that the use of these embryos to foster medical research (rather than tossing them down the toilet) is a better solution. I can see utilizing them for stem cell research. Why not? Because of your "slippery slope" argument? They already exist...they WILL BE destroyed otherwise. Sure, they can't sign organ donation cards like you can (you have, haven't you?) but isn't this a better solution than tossing them?

as for the future, education. outreach and the new legislation just passed by congress to avoid the non-existent practice of "fetus farming" should help abuse. But if in vitro exists as it does now, there will continue to be more and more frozen embryos that must be dealt with, one way or the other. If they will exist legally and WILL be destroyed...why not let them be used for research? If you want to stop the practice, great. Butthe articles you posted last night pointed out two wrongs don't make a right...so if it is legal to create these "extra" embryos, and it is legal to destroy them...then let them be used for the medical research to potentially help millions of others. Education of future in vitro patients may be the key to limiting the practice. Awareness and intelligent choice are the options to bring forth to everyone.

As your your personal insults, I have adopted two children and my wife and I have served as foster parent to five....I am sure a man of your moral conviction against abortion has put your own time, money and personal commitment in the same direction....unwanted children exist and need to be taken care of. Educating people (especially single young women) is still the major key to limiting unwanted pregnencies and eventually abortion. Nobody likes abortion...but I am not going to say an incest victim should not be able to terminate the pregnency. You feel differently. Fine. Neither of us likes abortion...but I can't declare myself so sanctimoneous that in some terrible circumstances it should not be an option.

O.K. Big guy....other than sit in righteous judgement over all of us, what is your plan? Lay it out. And please don't make it as simple as "abortion bad...in vitro o.k...tossing unneeded embryos o.k. because I have to pick my fights".
