Israel and we HAVE a clearly defined objective - the destruction of Hezbollah in Lebanon. The problem is, this is an impossible objective, as they breed 10 Hezbollah for every one they kill, with the misery and destruction that is "collateral damage". All those corpses and injured are related to people, friends with others, and all Lebanese.
Actually, the clearly defined objective is the DISARMING of Hizbullah, and forcing them to submit to the sovereign control of the Lebanese government and stop acting as if they are a sovereign nation of their own.
Hizbullah, as a political party, has a right to exist, SO LONG AS IT UPHOLDS AND SWEARS LOYALTY TO THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS.
But they don't have a right to conduct foreign policy unilaterally in a manner that directly undermines the authority of the Lebanese government.
It's a basic flaw in the "war on terror", of using the military to fight a tactic. We should be attacking the IDEAS behind the support for the terrorists. Instead, our responses actually recruit and rally support for the terrorists.
Which begs the question why hizbullah and other Islamic fanatics are not admonished to follow the same tactics. Fight your battles with the pen, and not the sword. IF they want economic, social, and political change, then work for it PEACEFULLY, not by proclaiming an agenda of carrying out wars of extermination with their country's neighbors.
