The proposed law was retroactive. I'm not sure what the current situation is. Greed knows no bounds with government people on the take and their bludging supporters.

Australia is an option.

Being resident in NZ would mean no capital gains tax still. Australia is being made a special case, unlike the USA. The USA should complain and call in the WTO and threaten to nuke Helengrad or at least introduce special tariffs against NZ to pay them back.
