Avici Systems doubles Q2 sales
Thursday July 20, 2:40 pm ET

Avici Systems Inc., which makes high-speed Internet routers, posted a profit in the second quarter on stronger-than-expected product sales.

Net income totaled $7.9 million, or 58 cents per share, compared with a loss of $2.7 million, or 21 cents per share, in the same period last year. The results included a charge of $1 million in restructuring costs, $400,000 in stock options expenses and a gain of $100,000 from the utilization of previously written off inventory.

Revenue for Avici (Nasdaq: AVCI - News) more than doubled, growing to $25.3 million from $11.1 million in 2005. Most of the increase was due to a more than twofold increase in product sales.
