I don't see that happening because parents don't want that to happen. There is no real constituency "harmed" by gay marriage, except people who have a reaction to the idea, while child marriages have a huge constituency against them- namely America's parents. Obviously you can worry about anything you want to, but this just seems like a bugaboo to me. I don't think sexual liaisons between children and their biological fathers (where apparently we have the bulk of the trouble) is ever going to be likely, and those people seem to be the people most interested (statistically) in the arrangement. I see legitimizing that as even more unlikely.

Since gays are not equivalent to pedophiles I don't agree with you on the scout's issue. Keep the pedophiles out, let the gays in. I'm generally against discrimination when it doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't believe in the state subsidizing discrimination, especially where strict scrutiny is required, absent compelling interest, and I don't see one here. I think your position will be on the losing side historically. People will look back (imo) at the discrimination against gays and think the same thing it, and the people who practiced it, that is now thought (by most) about racial discrimination.
