Very true. I think its a natural instinct. Some people might have it only to a very small degree, others might have effectively suppressed or redirected it. I don't know if anyone doesn't have it at all, but even if there are such people they are in a small minority.

Ideally you could ask questions, or debate the ideas, without making personal attacks, or making yourself the target of personal attacks, but often it doesn't work out that way.
