Take a typical small business, put 5000 people on their doorstep tomorrow and see what happens.

The Marines could cope because they have the manpower and the gear to cope.

I wonder if Bourdain had any interest or concern with the working conditions of the embassy in Beirut in the years before he suddenly decided to lean on them. Of course not. Hardly anyone ever does, particularly in the less glamorous and appealing corners of the planet.

Cheap shot from the cheap seats. I never saw an embassy with an extra supply of bullhorns in case a huge evacuation suddenly came up. And there probably aren't many Home Depots in Beirut to pick some up.
