JOHKGUN reported, September 17th on the Motley Fool thread, the following history of Vinik's earlier holdings.

MU from $35 to $90
CREAF from $6 to $7 to $22
INVX from $12 to $33

"The above action all happen (sic) within 12 months!"

I do not know if these figures are accurate. Under the assumption that they are, Vinik realized the following, relatively tight, multiples on his original investments:

MU x 2.57
CREAF x 3.14
INVX x 2.75

Applying these multiples to his approximate average cost of $29 for VVUS he might be ready to move on when price hits between $74.53 to $91.06.

Not an overly valuable analysis but gives is a peek into where Vinik has left the table in the past.
