China? Why isn't that one on your list. The country that ate Tibet, crushed a baby democracy movement, religious freedom, keeps God knows how many "dissidents" in its jails and cannibalizes the organs of its "criminals"? Big tyrant- and we love them so much we buy all their stuff. We love tyants for all sorts of reasons- and as long as it works for us, it works for us.

I think it is up to the citizens of any particular country to get rid of their own tyrants- unless the world community all agree that someone needs to be contained because they have violated international law- like Saddam invading Kuwait. I do agree with you that we can stop propping them up when they are no longer useful- but I would prefer we didn't make up excuses for our behavior. I'm a big fan of transparency. Of course we can't even always intervene when we see an invasion- because if China invades, say Taiwan, I don't see us doing much- no one important cares enough about Taiwan's freedom to think it is worth a nuclear war. I think I agree with that. I don't think Taiwan is worth WWIII either.

I think I generally disagree with you about world opinion, but I figured we would disagree on that.
