...parents don't want that to happen..

Parents may not want their children to get abortions or condoms in school w/o their knowledge or consent either, but parental opinion is officially and legally disregarded. Erosion of parental rights is happening and who knows how far the movement to erode parental control over children will go or try to go.

Since gays are not equivalent to pedophiles ... Keep the pedophiles out, let the gays in.

I know its PC to say homosexuals are not pedophiles, and most are not, but I think its worth pointing out that those pedophiles who target and victimize boys are by definition, homosexual.

I can't think of a reason, a good one anyway, why a homosexual man would want to be a scout leader.

I know there a handful of gay men who marry women and have kids before commiting to the gay lifestyle. But the small number of people like that should refrain from playing scout leader and things like that IMO.

I don't believe in the state subsidizing discrimination, especially where strict scrutiny is required, absent compelling interest, and I don't see one here.

So in your opinion, the Boy Scouts should be kept out of schools, parks, military bases, etc etc. All because of gay scout leaders. I find that amazing.

I think your position will be on the losing side historically. People will look back (imo) at the discrimination against gays and think the same thing it, and the people who practiced it, that is now thought (by most) about racial discrimination.

I couldn't disagree more. I realize (most people on the) left think they are always on the cutting edge of human development. But I think the left is continually going in directions that will not be supported over time.

At one time, many people on both the right and left thought communism (to choose a far-left example) would win over free-market capitalism eventually. But the opposite happened. Ultimately because everyone could see that communism didn't work at all.

Milder welfare state type socialism as in Europe is also a failure though it isn't quite as obvious. Nevertheless over time, big welfare states will become unaffordable and be scrapped by necessity, regardless of how well intentioned the welfare state advocates might be.

Here in the US, the word liberal has very negative connotations. Why? Well, (most) liberals think it's just a PR problem, conservative talk radio demonization, and so on. Instead of blaming the Rush Limbaugh's of the world for the negative connotations associated with liberal, the Dukakis's of the world (who believe and act on ideas like it's a good idea to give weekend passes to people serving life sentences) should get the credit.

IMO people over time realize that liberal ways of dealing with issues like welfare, crime, economic policy, etc. just don't work - just like communism and socialism don't work. And eventually liberal ideas on human sexuality - like gay marriage - will be recognized as being unrealistic also.

I have to add that campaigning against the Boy Scouts over the gay scout leader issue is something that will hasten that. That is an issue - like weekend furloughs for lifers - that the vast bulk of the population will reject on common sense grounds and will draw the conclusion that people who come up with ideas like that just can't be trusted with public policy.
