Exxon controls oil-gas from ground to pump. It costs them no more to make a gallon of gas now that it did 6 years ago when it cost us half the price. The main difference between now and then is that Exxon's cronies now control the US government and refuse to police any kind of gas gouging whatsoever. Sure, there may be other minor factors, but at least one dollar of what you pay now is pure gouging and manipulation, in concert with other big energy companies including Bush-Cheney's close pals the Saudis and OPEC. Like Bill O'Reilly says it's a monopoly and they are greedy immoral MF's screwing us to the wall. It's O'Reilly's one claim to fame, the fact that he as a conservative has seen through the lies and thievery of big oil. But O'Reilly still won't make the obvious connection to the Bush-Cheney regime. Look at a graph of price spikes and Bush-Cheney coming into power though and you'll see the timeline matches exactly.
