But if Dean had accused the president of Iran of being anti-Semitic, would the Republican National Committee have said: "It is incredibly troubling that Howard Dean would seek to score cheap political points by attacking the democratically elected prime minister of Iran." ? In fact I believe there are many points on which any Iraqi politician will have serious disagreement with US politicians. Is it not permitted to draw attention to these differences? Do we have to maintain the pretence that Iraq is now a US-style democracy?
