Hmmm.. FreeHand's long journey: Altsys -> Aldus -> Adobe -> Macromedia -> ? Maybe MetaCreations? Noticed that on these Macromedia buyout rumors, the stock that is now leaping this morning is not Macromedia but MetaCreations!!! I remember back when Adobe bought Aldus, I was talking to some attorney for Adobe at a trade show and he was grumbling about how the SEC forced Adobe to sell FreeHand to Macromedia at a really low price. Which leads me to wonder if Adobe buys Macromedia they will again have to sell off FreeHand to someone who would logically want it. And the most logical company I can think of is MetaCreations. So the leap in the price of MetaCreations would be on speculation that they're about to pick up this major application at a very good price. Sorry to let my imagination run wild--this is all outlandishly speculative thinking.
