FalconStor Keeps Glass Full for Leading U.S. Beverage Distributor
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2006--FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), the leading developer of proven data protection solutions, today announced that House of LaRose, one of the largest, most innovative, and technologically advanced beverage distributors in the U.S., has implemented FalconStor's IPStor® Continuous Data Protection (CDP) solution to ensure continuous protection of its warehouse distribution data and systems through automated, ongoing data replication. House of LaRose ships nearly 60,000 cases of Anheuser-Busch products nightly, creating the need to track, store, move, and load dozens of trucks for 80 different routes. When the company implemented a complex, powerful warehouse management system to handle this painstaking process, it made backing up and restoring system, database, and application data more critical than ever. House of LaRose needed to replicate and rapidly restore data for the IT system, quickly restore data from tape, and maintain business continuity in the event of a hardware failure or site-level disaster.
Working in conjunction with Chi Corporation, a leading storage solution provider, the company chose FalconStor's IPStor Continuous Data Protection (CDP) solution because it offered the fastest, most granular recovery of mission-critical databases, messaging data, and files; as well as bare metal recovery of entire systems.
"The IPStor CDP solution is the best one that we saw, at the best price," says House of LaRose Software Specialist Dan Brinegar. "We are impressed with the way in which it offers ongoing replication and protection of our system, along with rapid recovery." He adds, "It is such a blessing not to have to go through a tape archive to find data. It only takes 30 seconds to do a restore."
The implementation configuration includes FalconStor IPStor software with SAN/NAS storage provisioning capabilities running on a standard 4TB storage appliance. FalconStor DiskSafe(TM) software replicates the entire DAS system disks and data disks to the IPStor appliance, while FalconStor FileSafe(TM) software replicates files and folders to the appliance, delivering centralized data protection without impacting the productivity of live IT operations. FalconStor's IPStor ZeroImpact(TM) Backup Enabler is used for fast tape archiving of selected servers, leveraging the secondary data located on the storage appliance.
On the database end, IPStor CDP is synched with House of LaRose's Softeon ELITE warehouse management system, Oracle 10g running on Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Oracle 9i, a voicemail-based ordering system, and Microsoft Exchange 5.5, along with Windows NT 4.0 domain and FTP servers. IPStor CDP is configured to take scheduled snapshots of House of LaRose's databases, along with realtime continuous journaling of changes to data.
Brinegar and his team at House of LaRose are pleased with the way the solution has simplified storage management and will continue to do so in the future. "We don't have to continually monitor and tweak the product. FalconStor CDP is basically a 'set it and forget it' solution."
John R. Thome, Jr. from Chi states, "As a company focused on innovation and maximizing value for all of its constituents, House of LaRose needs a superlative data protection solution that is aligned with its progressive vision. FalconStor, with its breadth and depth of offerings and best-of-breed technology, is the ideal provider." |
