Co says that their competitor (SIRI) captured market share in the retail segment during the latter stages of second quarter... XM took actions during the quarter to strengthen and restructure and revamp their OEM sales and marketing group by establishing a dedicated automotive business units... Approximately 2 million listeners tuned to world cup broadcast last month... Annual and prepay subs are now at 42% vs 40% at the end of 2005... Second quarter churn was higher than anticipated; co has high confidence in its ability to lower churn rate; churn is slightly higher in retail vs OEM... Co says that promotional subs account for 8-9% of total sub universe vs SIRI which they assume 20% of subs are promotional, cites different accounting systems... Co said that while SIRI has much lower priced radios, backed by rebates that they are not interested in playing that game, but they will respond to the market share issues... Co notes FCC issue has added $4 to the cost to acquire a customer.
