12:46 XMSR XM Satellite: Subscriber growth softness does not pertain to overall satellite radio industry - Stanford (11.00 +0.64) -Update-

Stanford says they anticipated lower subscribers for XMSR and were at 8.2 mln by year end. Market share is shifting to its competitor, SIRI. Firm says the 7.7 mln low end of guidance may cause for some concern. Firm does not believe that XMSR's subscriber growth softness pertains to the overall satellite radio industry growth given that SiRius added over 600,000 subscribers in the quarter as retail share has shifted in favor of SIRI. Firm says that XMSR should have a slight increase in the OEM subscriber additions during Y06, as the majority of automotive installation still comes for GM and Honda. Beginning in Y07 and Y08, factory installation will commence for Toyota, Hyundai and Nissan, which should boost OEM growth. Firm estimates 8 mln XMSR subscribers by year end Y06 and 10 mln by year end Y07.
