there is sufficient info. The problem that was given in school actually asked about the time to travel rather than gas. If it is easier for you to deal with time you can treat X as time to travel from A to B and Y as time to travel from B to C

I am getting h+p=r+10 (h+p=pr) so I guess my solution is not correct, right? ;-))

p = 1
r = 0
e = 5
s = 6
t = 7
o = 2
c = 8
u = 3
h = 9

it is clear that p=1 that leads to h=9 and the rest is easy
