Hi Kyrosl, you may be right. Even so, that's a cynical stance and one that, unless you're very wealthy, is shortsighted. The "tax breaks" are simply borrowed money financed through greater deficits that will be repaid at a now built in, higher, respective tax rate by the middle class, while the wealthy get a respective break.
I think that many "I-vote-republican" Americans are, however, motivated not by love of Republicanism but rather by hate of "others." The talk radio, Fox news, even some churches are full of mouth spewing talk about the "other side" and how they lack values, promote abortion and support anti-God gay lifestyles.
If you have only two choices and believe one to be manned by anti-American, won't fight for their country, Saddam loving, Al Queda supporting, non-believing, weak-kneed, too-smart-for-their britches LIBERALS, then the choice is clear. I've listened to the people that represent such people in the House giving their "for home consumption" speeches on the floor or in committee. The things those reps say is astounding but they get a majority of the vote in their districts.
Those knee jerk voters will change when the chickens come home to roost in their house. In the meantime, for most of them, the door to discourse is closed. Ed |
