Many poor and middle class whites vote Republican because they perceive a Democratic bias in favor of non-whites, e.g. the solid Democratic support for racial preferences, regardless of socioeconomic status.

This is not "hate of others." Rather, it is "hate of injustice." It is also a pocket book issue. If your white kid does not make it into a good school because a non-white kid with lower scores took his place, you get angry. If the non-white kid comes from a family at a higher socioeconomic level than yours, you become a lifetime Republican regardless of other issues.
