Hi neolib; Re: "Yipes, that is quite a string of votes for incompetence!"

There are plenty of other Republicans that are unhappy with our fiasco in Iraq. Go read Pat Buchanan's columns over the past 3 or 4 years. And more Republicans are getting disillusioned all the time. But that doesn't automatically mean that we're suddenly going to vote for the party that "loathes the military".

If the Democrats want to win elections, they're going to have to come up with candidates that are more attractive than what they've come up with recently. As far as Iraq goes, the recent Democratic candidate was not in favor of pulling out, so why should I have voted for him? No way that Bush was going to invade Iran after getting stuck in Iraq.

I'm against US support of Israel, but if you think that this is something that the Republicans invented, then you should explain why it is that the Jews in the US vote solidly Democratic. Our insane policy in the Mideast is bipartisan. From what I read, the Democrats are going to end up badly split at the next election (between pro Israel and anti war) and are likely to be beaten yet again.

And before you get on that high horse about what great foreign policy geniuses the Democrats are, you should spend at least a few paragraphs explaining how the Democratic presidents Kennedy and Johnson got us stuck in Vietnam. Clinton executed exactly the same foreign policy regarding Israel that Bush I did before him, and he didn't even try to normalize relations with Iraq (as I was in favor of).
