there are a number of attorneys employed by the SEC who provide answers to legal questions from the public. questions can be sent 2 help@sec.gov

actually, this was the second e-mail I received from Mr. Johnston. The first -- received within 24 hours of my inquiry -- advised that he would need to research the matter with another department before getting back to me.

I was also very impressed with the timely response. I have e-mailed questions to the SEC attorneys on either one or two prior occasions (it's been a while, maybe a year ago), and remember being impressed then at the timeliness of the response as well.

a good resource, for sure.
