Re: By the time CMW becomes a force in the marketplace, they are quite likely to be leap frogged in performance attributes by AMD's 65nm and K8L offerings.

I would at least rephrase the above sentence a bit. AMD's 65nm is not projected to overcome the huge performance gap with a ramping CMW by any expert (not in any laptops, 1S desktops, and 1-2S servers). The inofficial roadmaps we saw so far also underline this because they show that the initial top of 65nm production will start at lower frequencies than top of 90nm production. K8L however is projected to close the gap nicely.

In short it is rather likely that - provided K8L will not be released in dual core form in Q1/07 (Fuad is projecting this will happen, but Charlie sticks to his summer target) - 65nm by itself will hardly suffice to overcome the performance gap with a ramping CMW.

So you can only be right if the dual core version of K8L will arrive in Q1. If however you maintain that you have most chance of being right I'd appreciate to know what exactly makes you so certain; because I'm not.

re: I'm just not convinced that production problems are even nearly overcome.

CMW is a large chip but Intel's 65nm process is quite reasonably mature by now. So even though you are not convinced you do think that chances that Intel has very significant production problems are not that high, right?
