WharfRat,

I believe that currently Canada is producing over a quarter of a billion Barrels (over 750,000 barrels/day) of oil annually from tar sands. Surely Canada isn't ramping up production (despite spiraling construction and labor costs) because they are losing money on synthetic oil from tar sands.
