This is all off topic, but I haven't seen a bartender yet and I need to vent to someone.

So I get up here to the lake house yesterday, futz around, turn on the computer and it's a no start.
Looking at the outlet, the other side is driving the monitor so....
But I try another outlet downstairs. That one has a lamp on the other side so I plug it in. Still no action, figured the Power Supply is shot.
Drive home.
Spent 20 years up in the Catskills, mostly weekends. Couple of years here before I bought the house.
Pull into my home town where deer are only slightly more common than elephants and Whammo! Deer all over the place here and I nail my first one 3 miles outside of Newark.
Call the cops, guy shows up and I suggest he shoot the deer. Tells me he needs to go back and get a shotgun.
????????

So I order a ThinkPad 60t as a back-up computer and pick up a small HP. Did not want to waste time scrounging for another PSupply, that can wait.
So what do we have?
Car damage, probably 2 to 3 thousand.....
Two machines, another 2 thousand......
Missed a game of golf I was looking forward to....I don't play that often anymore and was looking forward to it.....
Here I am, back at the house. Plug in the HP.
Plug is dead. Somehow, the other side works and this side crapped out.
Downstairs, check the other plug.....also dead.
So for two plugs that may have been knocked out by a storm.....somehow....I get to pay 5 Grand, miss golf (raining now) and I have a hobbled deer wandering through Montclair.

Now that's I've read this, why am I telling you? I really should hit a bar.
After managing to find the only two outlets in the house that do not work, I should buy a lotto ticket.
Then burn it. Maybe that will ward off the Evil Spirits. |
