Vanni, you said: <Glad to see you guys are putting together a pointless letter writing campaign.>
What makes you think its so pointless? Is Dr. Cowpland so "bullwinkle" headed that he can only see to the tip of his nose?
Kellogg's has made corn flakes for about 100 years. Day after day they continue to crank out cereals, box after boring box. Its pretty unexciting stuff. But day after day, quarter after quarter, they continually generate profits and value for their shareholders.
Word processing and WordPerfect may be considered "old hat" and pretty boring stuff as far as technology goes. But selling it "day in and day out" can create quarterly profits and value for shareholders. I feel like management bought WordPerfect with the idea of it generating cashflow on its own, without additional pushing to the market.
But management's real love is "technology." Therefore while Corel programmers are daily cranking out terrific products, management seems to be more worried about pinpointing future technologies, and trying be the first to build an empire out of them, just like Microsoft did with DOS. If Corel does not go back to the basics now, and FOCUS ON THE SUITE and start SELLING WORDPERFECT, it may find its stock listed on the Vancouver Exchange!
Happy incarceration. I hope you find the "key" to go Up, UP, & Away!
