Funny how Lieberman gets their support for doing exactly that, defying his own party and reaching across the aisle on a major issue.

Good point.

Maybe its because when McCain reaches across the aisle it is for things that resonate deeply with Dems, like torture and when Liebermann does the same it is for issues that are anathema to Dems, such as support for the Iraq war.

The Kiss from GWB also did Liebermann no favors, nor did his sitting on the GOP side of the aisle for the SOTU address nor his walking with them in that parade, nor his announcement that he would run as an independent if he loses the primary.
