I see. In today's liberally nuanced world, one can be intentionally deceptive, grossly exaggerating, blatantly distorting, ET AL, yet they are not lying. And many people will take that to mean the deceptive, exaggerated or distorted version of events are THE TRUTH.

So when does one cross the line & actually become a liar?

truth - in accordance with fact : ACTUALLY - the state of being the case - FACT the body of real things, events, and facts - ACTUALITY - the property (as of a statement) of being in accord with fact or reality

lie - to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive
- to create a false or misleading impression - mean to tell an untruth
